Darrel Issa Ethically Challenged.
Ethics have to do with values relating to human conduct, with respect to the rightness and wrongness of certain actions and to the goodness and badness of the motives and ends of such actions. A number of Darrell’s actions would bring in to question his ethics and his motivations for seeking office.
Congressman Darrell Issa has been a very vocal critic of earmarks in his tenure in office. However according to this New York Times article, Congressman Darrell Issa has repeatedly secured earmarks for infrastructure improvements near properties he owns, and there are questions about conflicts of interest.
According to this article in the San Diego Union Tribune, an employee of Issa’s firm DEI had to quit and take whistleblower status in order to force payment of taxes owed in 2010.
As chairman of the house oversight committee, Congressman Darrell Issa has repeatedly leaked documents, or leaked portions of documents when it benefits him politically. And according to this MSNBC article some of these documents Issa has chosen to leak are highly sensitive and have put lives at risk.
Congressman Darrell Issa has repeatedly called on major campaign donors to testify before congressional hearings as “experts”. And according to this Political Correction article Issa does not always disclose to the committee his relationship with said “experts.”
Congressman Darrell Issa’s tenure in office is marked by close relationships he and his staff have with the private sector. For example according to this Political Correction article, Issa skirted house ethic rules in regards to trade show trips.
When Darrell Issa’s company, DEI, was sold in 2011, this New York Times article raised the question of why the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) appeared to decide not to investigate some questionable transactions.
